More about Sophie

Sophie Update ....

Sophie is a four year old German Shepard who was rescued through our work as Humane Investigators. Although only 34 pounds, with open sores on her nose and ears from fly bites and unfortunately a mild heartworm infection, she is now enjoying the good life. Weighing in at 55 pounds, her nose and ears are completely healed and she was exercising daily walking close to a mile before she started her heartworm treatment on August 1. This treatment regrettably  requires her exercise to be rigidly restricted for the first  four weeks post  treatment followed by at least another two weeks of  moderate restriction. She now spends her days playing with her selection of toys, waiting anxiously for her return to a normal exercise routine, playtime with her foster sister dog and her future forever home. She seems housebroken (no mistakes in over a month of foster care), and been exposed to people of various ages, with no evident issues or concerns.

Want to meet Sophie? The first step is to fill out an Adoption Application. Learn more about our Adoption Process. The adoption donation for Sophie is $300. For details about our adoption donation, read The Cost of Adoption.
