What A Little Love Will Do

Many of you probably read the story of Roo, the terrier mix, who was tied to a chain link fence, just a few days away dying of starvation. Well, thanks to the loving care of the Palmer family and Care Animal Hospital Roo went from a skeletal 18.5 pounds to a healthy 24.7 pounds in just two short weeks.

Following a check up with the doctor Roo received the okay to begin receiving her much needed medication to fix her skin problem, due to the severe neglect she experienced. She is now in the next and final stage of recovery.

In the past two weeks Roo has spent her days lounging on her most favorite place, the Palmer's living room couch. She has blended in beautifully with the family's four other canine companions and has many visitors wanting to meet the dog who almost didn't make it. She receives regular spa treatments with a medical bath to help along her skin condition. She is offered three meals a day still but often times looks at her food and up at mom and back at her food and walks away. Doctor says not to worry, she's not starving anymore, she doesn't need to eat as much. (See her glamor shot at the end of this e-mail.)

I want to thank everyone that donated for Roo's medical care. But Roo will still need expensive ongoing medical care for the next month or so. We are still in need of financial help. Every few dollars helps. Donations can be made via paypal at www.aear.org or you may send a check to AEAR P.O. Box 7343 Libertyville, IL. 60048.

As a footnote Roo's previous owner had a warrant put out for her arrest. She is facing charges of animal neglect and cruelty which could receive a jail sentence.
