Here is Nosh's story:   The people who gave me the cat live in Navy housing. They know the woman who owned Nosh (original name unknown) but said she moved out of her house LAST YEAR. Since then they said they've seen the cat a few times. Tonight the cat showed up at their door severely emaciated and with a swollen front right leg.

They called police and animal control and no one was reachable so she called us. I couldn't let the cat suffer.

Currently the cat is in a x-large dog crate in my basement with food, water and a litter box. The cat is skin on bones. I gave him canned food and dry food. He devoured an entire can of cat food and is now working on the dry. Clearly starving. His front leg IS swollen and he is NOT putting weight on it but I am confident it can wait until Monday.

This totally infuriates me! Someone just left their cat behind and he has suffered terribly. Can you imagine what he must have been thinking and feeling? How confusing it must have been? It would have been better if they had dropped him off at animal control. He would have been safe and fed there.

He is so sweet and seems SO GRATEFUL.

I know his medical bills will be high, x-rays I am sure. Who knows what the x rays will show but something will have to be done about his leg. I would be so grateful for any donations to pay for his upcoming medical expenses. X-rays alone are about $100.00.

Also, we need a name so suggestions are welcome. It's a boy. And the people who dropped him of said he used to be a very big tom cat.

So he's safe, comfortable and has a full stomach for the first time in a very long time. Poor, poor baby.

Nosh needs a foster home where he will be nurtured and cared for until he gets adopted.

Want to meet Nosh? The first step is to fill out an Adoption Application. Learn more about our Adoption Process. The adoption donation for Nosh is $130. For details about our adoption donation, read The Cost of Adoption.
